Art has long been considered a powerful tool in therapy for a varietyof mental health disorders. More often than not though, thesetreatments take place in a hospital and serve as a release valve forpatients undergoing other, more rigorous treatments.

in the New York Times examines how Alzheimer's sufferers have utilizednew guided tours in art museums to engage and explore perceptions andunderstanding of paintings. This process has been shown tostimulate participants, and often lead to benefits that extend forhours into days.
