Depression and Disability Linked

A Northwestern University studyhas linked disability and depression in older sufferers of thedisease.  The study, focusing on adults ages 54-65, highlightedthe effects that depression can have beyond its own devastatingsymptoms.  Authors of the study said: "Public health and/or publicpolicy programs that promote prevention and effective treatment ofdepression, chronic conditions and functional impairments among adultsmay prevent the development of activities of daily living disability,interrupting a costly spiral of health decline."
